The first Farm Machinery Show was held at the RDS, Simmonscourt Pavilion in Dublin from February 6th-8th 1989. The Association's first show was in response to a lack of exhibition events. The introduction of the Show was not an easy task. It was spearheaded by the FTMTA Show Committee, which included Geoff Daly and Shay Lynch. Pat Keogh and Chairman John Perry were also on the committee. The Show was a major development, attracting 9,000 visitors and occupying 90% of the available exhibition space. The event has been growing in popularity ever since. It has become a staple on the calendar of the machinery industry. It became increasingly difficult in the following years to host the event at the RDS, as it was located too close to Dublin City Center.
